William Searson, of Hamilton, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography on Tuesday, June 27, and was sentenced to two and a half years in jail, with nine months served, followed by nine months of house arrest, according to the Hamilton Police Department.

Searson was discovered to have hundreds of images of child porn via a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children network. The tip said that an IP address in Hamilton was uploading and viewing inappropriate naked images of young children.

Detectives connected the IP address to Searson's residence, located at 14 Bradford Road.

While at the home, police found images of child porn on a desktop that belonged to Searson.

Searson was then arrested and charged with possession of child porn.

A search warrant on the computer and home turned up hundreds of child porn images.

Searson formerly worked as general counsel for Salem State College and was a Massachusetts Bar Association member since 1966, according to Salem News.
